What We Do
Bridges CEDC primarily serves communities throughout Los Angeles County, especially those within a 20-mile radius of the City of Carson. As the needs dictate, we expand our service areas through our various programs. Currently, our program services are offered under the names of Bridges Academic Center of Excellence, Bridges Community Partner in Care, and Bridges Community Resources with the primary focus of bridging the gaps in providing access to critical resources needed to produce equitable outcomes for underserved communities and families.
Through our programs, we provide services such as academic support, foster care support for resource and biological parents, food and supplies distributions, and connection to community resources including mental health resources, job training and placement assistance, access to affordable housing options, and community events and workshops. Our goal is to promote self-sufficiency and empower individuals and families as we strive to create a more just and equitable society for all.

Bridges holds me accountable. I have to write down all of my assignments when I get here to show my tutor. I know those things have to get done and I know that I have to do them well because someone is going to check behind me. If I don't do it right, they help me get it right. When I go home, I can go to sleep, watch Youtube or chill without that looming thought of things to do. This is the most relaxed school year I have had in high school. I know what I have to do, where to go get it done and who can help me do it well and completely.

I am so grateful that Bridges has year round tutoring and summer camp is available to my boys. It was like a foreign language to us all, I am no help to them. Their school work and homework has improved tremendously. You know that saying “it takes a village”, well bridges is our village. Bridges is the Rosetta Stone, babble, and Duolingo, of homework.

Receiving food and supplies from Bridges has been a lifeline for my family during these really tough financial times. The assistance has not only provided us with items like canned goods, fresh produce, and hygiene products, but it has also filled us with a sense of community support and love.

Bridges After-school is fun. I get to do my homework with the other kids. The teachers and tutors are nice, and they take the time to talk to you and ask how you're feeling. I like that. Bridges offers a great selection of snacks and drinks. I like that I get to play with my new friend Solomon when we are done with all of our work. That's my favorite part.

They did not just fill our cupboards, but also brought hope and comfort, reminding us that we are not alone in our struggles and that there are organizations and people who care.
